“The Participant Support committee made a major contribution a while ago. I am so appreciative. They gave funds for both a bed and housing to me and others in need.” - YouthBuild Buffalo student

The Participant Support Committee was created to respond to emergency needs of program participants (AmeriCorps members and YouthBuild students), many of which lead to leaving the program if they cannot be addressed. The Committee first highlights available resources with referrals, when resource referral has been exhausted, the Committee offers funds for support, if justification is provided and funding is available. The Committee commits to providing anonymity for the members requesting assistance.

Since the Committee was formed three years ago, 18 emergency requests have been granted totaling $3,848. The requests have included supporting: emergency transportation, housing and utility emergencies and general financial hardship.

“The Participant Support Fund helped me spiritually, financially, and mentally. I was struggling to live on my own...In the midst of giving in, [TSC] definitely came to the rescue with the Participant Support Fund. The Participant Support Fund is a life saver!!" - ABLE AmeriCorps member
